Shark in water image

Two Chinese tourists were attacked by sharks while diving in the waters of Tamarin 2 days ago.

The incident occurred during an organized diving excursion off the coast. One of the tourists sustained serious facial injuries in the attack and was immediately rushed to the hospital, where he is expected to undergo surgery.

Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the attack, which has left the local community and tourists in shock.

Meanwhile, the second tourist, who escaped unscathed, is receiving support from local authorities as investigations continue into the rare and alarming incident.

Mauritius waters are usually safe with tourists going for scuba diving or snorkelling so shark attacks are pretty rare. However, as a tourist, one should be careful to not disturb or trouble the sea creatures because they feel threatened and attack as self defence.

This is the first reported shark attack in Mauritius in decades. Don’t fear, waters are still safe, just take precautions and don’t tease the sharks.
