Nas Daily, operated by Israeli Vlogger Nuseir Yassin recently posted a video covering the unique heritage of Mauritius. One of the highlights of his video is that Mauritius is completely inhabited by immigrants with no natives. Till date, it has not been in any war, has no military or army, no fighting tanks and is the safest country in African sub-continent.
The video also features the president of Mauritius Mr. Dharam Ghokool (it’s really cool for a president to act all fun in a video, even India once featured it’s prime minister Narendra Modi in a wildlife documentary). Sometimes as citizens we forget that our politicians are also fun-loving people, it was really amazing.
However, the video has received backlash from few Mauritians claiming that their ancestors were immigrants but they are Mauritians so it’s not fair to report the country like that.
Few other netizens claimed that while Mauritius does not have a “traditional standing army”, they maintain their defence and security through the National Police Force and paramilitary units like Special Mobile Force & National Coast guards who handle all police, military & security functions in the country , supported by international partnerships (USA and India playing a major role here).
