The Express Metro of Mauritius (MEL), the light rail services, announced the resumption of its metro services this afternoon which was shut down for maintenance. MEL maintenance teams were deployed on the ground this morning to inspect the tram network and carry out the necessary rehabilitation work.
In a statement published on its Facebook page, the MEL stressed that the safety of passengers and the public was its top priority.
The MEL announced that metro services would resume normal operation this afternoon. Passengers are invited to consult the MEL website or station billboards for schedules and route information.
The Metro Express is a light rail public transport system in Mauritius.
The route runs between the capital Port Louis in the district of the same name and the cities of the Plaines Wilhems District with an additional branch, running between the city of Rose Hill and the University of Mauritius at Réduit.
