Pointe d’Esny & Blue Bay is situated on the South Eastern tip of the island boasting one of the clearest and biggest lagoons on island. The lagoon is surrounded by a coral reef and was declared a marine park in 1997. The Blue Bay Marine Park is a paradise for snorkelers and divers. The bay lies in a semicircle of Filao trees, one of the finest bathing spots on the island.

You can enjoy beautiful marine life at Blue Bay Marine Park. The total area of the Marine Park is about 353 hectares. In this park you will get to see great view of reef, fish and corals. There are  more than 50 different species of corals, out of which 80% are alive.
The Blue Bay Marine Park is full of mangroves, algae, sea grasses, corals, and other marine organisms. There is also a variety of fish species that include Damsel fish, Surgeon fish, Butterfly fish, juvenile Sailfin tangs, as well as tiny Pipefish and large Trumpet fish.
At the Marine Park you can enjoy 2 hour glass bottom boat trip to see the underwater world through its glass bottom or you can jump into the water for some snorkeling and swimming if you really want to enjoy the beautiful and colorful fauna and flora found at the park.
Nature lovers should not miss a visit to l’Ile aux Aigrettes , 25-hectare island nature reserve managed by the Mauritian Wildlife Foundation, a non-profit conservation organization. This is the only area of the costal ebony forest in Mauritius. Here you will see beautiful trees with strange names like Ox wood, Pipe wood, Rat wood and Bottle palm. You will also discover many plants and animals which are not found anywhere in the world such as  the Rare Pink Pigeon, Stunning Ornate Day Geckos, and the Giant Aldabra Tortoise.
Accommodation
The coast between Pointe d’Esny and Blue Bay is one of the most exclusive residential areas in Mauritius. There are many villas and expensive holiday houses.
There are a couple of good middle class hotels and guesthouses as well as some fine self catering places directly on the beach.
It is an idyllic destination for all those seeking rest, peace and serenity and of course for nature lovers.
