Saturday 12th October, a fatal accident took lives of 4 young people in Beauz-Songes, Mauritius. An investigation is underway but primarily it looks like a car driven by one of the victims moved from it’s lane and hit a truck.

The victims, identified as three young men and one young woman, were all residents of the Quatre Bornes area.

They were pronounced dead at the scene, while one other occupant of the car was injured and was transported to the hospital.

The truck driver, who also sustained serious injuries, was similarly taken to the hospital for treatment.

Among the deceased was Darel Agathe, a resident of Berthaud, Quatre-Bornes. His mother, Marie-Michèle, shared her heartbreak, describing him as a friendly young man who always brought joy to his family.

The other victims of the collision have been identified as Wakil Timol, the driver from Beau-Séjour, Belle-Rose; Dylan Sansouci from Résidence Kennedy; and Nina Marie Phoebe Ludivine from Quatre-Bornes.

Speed driving has become a huge problem in Mauritius and government should urge young people to not get excited and try to drive in such a speed that they loose control of the vehicle. There needs to be speed cameras on all roads to monitor the speed limit and fine people so that they follow rules and drive safely.
